Primeval maple tree in Parád

Primeval maple tree in ParádNear Main Road No. 24, which crosses the mountain range, the so-called Primeval Maple of the Mátra attracts the attention of travellers. It is a real botanical rarity because, as far as we know, no other such tree has ever been discovered in Hungary or anywhere else in the world. The leaf shape, bark and fruit of this primeval maple is also different from every other currently existing maple. It bears fruit every year, but its seeds are not capable of germination, thus we have to take good care of the parent specimen if we would like to see this special tree for a long time.
