Two kilometres to the south of the settlement of Recsk, in the Eastern Mátra, one can find a beautiful collection of plants. One of the most well-known gardeners of previous-century Europe, Vilmos Jámbor, established this place at the end of the 1860s. Originally, it was a nursery, in which Jámbor grew a lot of various species of trees and shrubs. At present, the arboretum provides space on 4.5 hectares for 29 ligneous plant species from five continents. Some of them have an impressive size. The arboretum has been protected since 1975. It is accessible on foot from Recsk, through the tourist trail that is marked with a yellow line.
