The arboretum, which is under protection today, was founded at Fenyvespuszta, below the peak of Ágasvár, by forest engineer-botanist János Tuzson between 1928 and 1940. He established the collection that consists mainly of evergreens by clearing the existing forest. Its most significant tree species are:
Colorado pine, larch, spruce, silver fir, green and
grey Douglas fir, mountain pine, Lawson cypress, eastern and western thuja. Tourists can find this pleasant collection of live trees from the direction of the settlement called Tar, or from Ágasvár by following the trail that is marked with a yellow line, then a yellow cross that branches off from it.
